CelluXtreme’s pilot plant development receives funding from the Swedish Energy Agency

We are happy to announce that CelluXtreme has been awarded significant funding by the Swedish Energy Agency as part of their Pilot and Demonstration Projects program. This support will fuel our mission to pioneer materials and supply high-performance and sustainable composites. The grant recognizes our commitment to advance and underscores the importance of pioneering work.

Public support crossing the start-up valley of death

In the challenging landscape of start-ups, navigating the notorious ”valley of death” can be particularly daunting. In this phase, own revenue is too short, and external capital needs to be attracted to start and scale. Public funding from organizations like the Swedish Energy Agency plays a crucial role in bridging this gap, reducing the financial risk for private investors.

The Swedish Energy Agency follows a clear track for start-ups which is aligned with the company development and scaling. Calls come yearly, and start-ups can plan their application according to their development steps. It is a well thought-through system that is predictable and offers opportunities for support at the right time, and in the right measure.

By securing this grant, we demonstrate strong validation of our project, providing confidence to our current clients and potential investors about the viability and future success of our sustainable solutions. We extend our gratitude to the Swedish Energy Agency for their trust and support.

CelluXtreme’s pilot production capacity expansion

Our project focuses on developing sustainable composite materials using 100% renewable nanocellulose fibers. These materials offer a sustainable alternative to traditional composites, reducing the need for fossil resources and hazardous chemicals. Read here (link) about our multi-functional properties and what benefits our material can generate for you.

We develop our product performance in joint projects with customers. In parallel, we develop our production capacity to prepare for delivering material and impact on scale. The pilot plant milestone propels us closer to our goal of pioneering materials. This capacity expansion further enables us to increase our number of co-development projects, scaling the benefits of our materials for the market.

Further, it will enable us to test the small-unit production setup for the envisioned local production for shortening the value chain. Moving from laboratory to pilot scale needs us to rethink and redesign for developing low CAPEX and OPEX operations. With support from this grant, we are feeling encouraged starting into the development.
